TCA coachings are weekly, hour-long sessions that equip each student with the skills necessary to rehearse and perform as an ensemble. Some important chamber concepts that are taught include:
- Group balance (knowing when to come out of or blend into the ensemble's texture)
- Rhythmic interplay and accuracy (understanding how the different parts interact and relate to one another)
- Ensemble intonation (learning how to listen to each other to inform and understand harmonic and melodic roles)
- Ensemble dynamics and articulation (reacting to one another to create a specific and appropriate style and sound)
- Cohesive musical ideas (sharing and discussing musical interpretations for a unified and effective performance)
- Sound blend and timbre (listening to each other's sounds to find the best way in which to contribute to the ensemble)
- Visual and physical communication (seeing, acknowledging, and contributing to the natural movement of the music and the group)
