Students are assigned ensembles based on their instrument, ability, experience, and age. Ensembles consist of anywhere from three to sometimes as many as eight students. Groups assignments remain consistent for at least an entire semester, and repertoire is assigned by the coach (though suggestions or requests are welcome).
